Mr. Marcon attended Bethlehem public schools, graduated from Davidson College, which he attended on an athletic scholarship, served as an officer in the U. S. Army and in 1967 joined the family construction business, Duggan and Marcon, Inc., becoming President in 1983. He retired from the position of Chief Executive Officer in 2024. In 1968 he married Allentown resident, Ruth Howard, and moved to Allentown, where he currently resides. Charles and Ruth have 4 children, who graduated from William Allen High School, and 12 grandchildren.
In addition to building his company into one of the largest employers of construction workers in the region, Mr. Marcon has been active on numerous Boards. Past affiliations include the Allentown Symphony Association, Allentown YMCA (Past President), Communities in Schools of the Lehigh Valley (Past President), Education 2020, First Presbyterian Church of Allentown (Board of Deacons), Lehigh Valley Community Foundation, Lehigh Valley Contractors Association, General Building Contractors Association of Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, Lehigh Valley Partnership (President), Renew Lehigh Valley, and United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (Past Campaign Chair). In addition, he has been a Management Trustee for Philadelphia and Vicinity Regional Council of Carpenters Pension and Welfare Funds and United Brotherhood of Carpenters International Training Fund. He presently serves on the Board of the National Museum of Industrial History (Chair).
In April 2012, Mr. Marcon was named a Trustee of the Harry C. Trexler Trust.
Mr. Marcon’s personal interests are physical fitness, reading, traveling, golf, and entertaining his grandchildren.
